MANILAphl63, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Monday called on the cruise tourism industry to strengthen its partnership with the government.

He said this in his speech during the Seatrade Cruise (STC) Asia 2024 in Parañaque City.

“To the distinguished representatives of cruise lines, esteemed industry leaders, and valued partners, the Philippines extends a warm and earnest invitation to you to deepen our partnerships—founded on the principles of shared success and mutual aspiration,” Marcos said.

“May your participation in the Seatrade Cruise Asia 2024 be productive and enriching, and may the collaborations we foster here today chart a transformative course for our region’s cruise industry,” he added.

The president also mentioned the government’s commitment to helping the industry evolve through strengthening infrastructure, creating partnerships, and ensuring that both the cruise industry and local communities will flourish.

Marcos also said that, aside from improving the country’s ports and destinations, government agencies are also committed to the preservation of cultural and environmental assets.

“With your collaboration and commitment, we are establishing ourselves as a hub for cruise tourism—a destination where innovation, collaboration, and sustainable growth converge,” he said.

The event was attended by cruise line industry leaders and other government partners. It focuses on expanding Asia’s potential as a cruise tourism destination and market by gathering global and regional stakeholders such as itinerary planners, port agents, cruise associations, cruise line executives, and other people involved in the industry.
